The logician in question is University of Michigan professor Carl Cohen, who has long opposed the policy (at his university and everywhere else) of granting preferences to students who come from certain ethnic groups. In this Pope Center essay, Professor Cohen explains why he takes that position and hopes that the Supreme Court will finally get this right by overruling the Grutter case when it reconsiders Fisher v. Texas.
