FIRE Wins Major Free Speech Victory at UW/Stout

Glenn Ricketts

As regular readers here know, the news about free speech and free expression on college campuses these days is often depressing, something I wouldn't have believed possible when I got into the academic business 30 years ago.

But today, there's some good news, thanks as usual to our friends at FIRE who've persuaded the UW/Stout administration to take the First Amendment seriously and abandon the heavy-handed censorship imposed recently on a theater arts professor. Read about it here.

It really isn't possible to praise FIRE too highly, and we're pleased to acknowledge yet another victory by an orgnization that is second to none in defending all the right things in today's ideologically blinkered academic precincts. Our hats are off.
