In this week's Pope Center Clarion Call, I write about a recent book by West Virginia University sociology professor Karen Weiss, Party School. Although Professor Weiss makes a weak attempt at keeping the identity of the school she studied secret, the clues in the book make it evident that she is writing about West Virginia. The party culture seems to have saturated most of the university and students who aren't into it are, she writes, "marginalized." Sometimes worse than that -- non-partiers are victimized with some frequency.
