Introducing Development Assistant Dan Kemp

National Association of Scholars

Dan Kemp graduated from The King’s College in December of 2014 with a bachelor’s degree in Politics, Philosophy, and Economics (PPE). He was the editor of the TKC student publication The Lewis Review, co-founder and drummer for the TKC Jazz Combo, and studied abroad at Oxford University as a student of Christ Church College. Dan is applying to graduate programs in the areas of moral philosophy and political philosophy. He and his wife live in Queens and are expecting their first child.

Here’s what he had to say about starting at NAS:

NAS confronts the exact issues I want to think about. Liberal education has always been a key player in the discovery of the good life. A college degree is now seen as the primary indication that a person is educated; this invites a review of colleges’ role and function. NAS watches for obstacles to that function. It investigates the practices on today’s campus, diagnoses the state of things, and suggests ways to help theory and practice align properly. As someone whose future will most likely be involved with the university, I have an interest in understanding the path it is taking.
